Week 67: Phoenix: give a stranger a compliment today !

 que tal mis amores!!!<3

oh this week was just wonderful. my heart just gets so full when i stop and think about how blessed i am to serve in this area, serve around such incredible missionaries and leaders, and have the best companion.

about two weeks ago on april 18, hermana spencer & i were trying to visit our friend bere. she wasnt home, and it was like 2pm (meaning barely anyone is home/out and about). we just didnt know where the Lord needed us, but were also so exhausted and sweaty because arizona is in the 100s nowadays. my companion, being the angel she is, was like "hermana, we need to pray." we offered a very short prayer asking God where we could make the best use of our time. and we prayed for a miracle. when we finished we were still tired and sweaty but now felt like we needed to go to a certain apartment complex. we walked over there and saw a guy out on his balcony on the 2nd floor. we start talking with him and he is nottt interested at all😂 but while we are talking this other guy approaches us and starts asking us questions. at this point my companion is now street contacting one person while i am talking to this other guy simultaneously. we got talking & i found out he is from puerto rico (!!!!) and from the same place as my dad!! anyways he was kind of apprehensive & a bit in a rush since he was in the middle of working, but we got his number & he went off. for these 2 weeks we've been trying to meet with him, and yesterday we were finally able to.

the spirit was so sweet, so palpable, so electric as we taught and testified of simple gospel truths. he soaked it all up like a sponge. we taught him how to pray and how to read the scriptures. we testified that God is His Father & Jesus Christ is his Savior. he literally has no religious background so all of this was so new and exciting for him. oh my goodness it was just so beautiful to watch. he was not the same person by the end of that lesson.

the gospel of Jesus Christ is perfect. i have seen the fruits of it, and i know it is true. it changes us, expands our vision, gives us hope, fills us with joy. God lives and He is a God of miracles.

all my love,

hermana zayas
