Hermana Kayla Zayas' Missionary Experiences in Arizona Scottsdale Mission: 2022-2023

  hello hello hello from Scottsdale!! I don't think I fully understood what people meant when they said Arizona would be hot. like I'm from Florida so I know heat, so I didn't think it would be bad. anyways let's just say that if you haven't wandered around apartment complexes in 114⁰ weather, you haven't lived yet :) My companion is Hna Horton!! She is the most adorable human being. She has only been a missionary for a few weeks and her spanish is simply wonderful, it is just great. We are over the Via Linda branch & Chaparral ward, our area is HUGE and covers north scottsdale, paradise valley, cave creek, fountain hills, and a bunch of other places i don't even know. It is full of wealthy people and fancy cars, which is fun and all, except none of them want to talk to us ;) the teaching pool here is pretty weak and finding new people to teach has been a struggle. it doesn't help that i kinda went into shock the first few days, with the culture shif...

 hola a todos!!! I am going to be training a new missionary in Scottsdale!!! So excited to meet my trainee today :) i am finally going to be in a spanish ward, so YAY!!! it has been an interesting week, first the anticipation of transfer news and then finding out that both Hna Jenson & I are whitewash training in the valley. i have discovered my great dislike for moving, lol... It was a good week though! We had to say goodbye to our friends which was actually so sad, but we are ready for the next adventure! Living in Pinetop Lakeside these past 6 months has been a dream. Seeing how our friends have developed a love for Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel has been such a blessing. Pinetop Lakeside will always have my hearttttt. I can honestly say that Pinetop Lakeside is the place I got to know my Savior. He is just everything to me, I can't even put it into words. It seems surreal that I am actually a missionary, being His servant and striving to represent Him. I...

 qué tal?!! this week was sooooo much better than last week. we have started teaching a new family!!! Mike, Brandy, and Lily <3 Mike stopped going to church when he was 13, he later married Brandy and they had Lily.  He has an interesting past but had a come to Jesus moment and has decided he wants to accept Christ back into his life!! They are literally the cutest family ever I adore them. Their goal is to be sealed in the temple!! I am so sad because I am literally leaving the area next week so I won't get to teach them for very long, but I am so grateful to have met them!! Oh yes! I kinda just threw that in there but we had interviews this week andd it is pretty much certain that I am going to the valley.... so i have just 7 more days until I get to go down and enjoy the 115 degree weather yay!!!please pray for me.   Anywho.  happy independence day!!!!! 🍎◻🐳 really debated writing an email this ahahah. here's what happened:  • our dear friend Jeanette passed away 😔 prayers for Cristina, Virgina, and Anthony (her family) would be greatly appreciated. it has been really really sad but I am so grateful to know that she is being taught the gospel in the Spirit World <3 • was able to share my testimony of Jesus Christ with an atheist, the spirit was so strong! • hna jenson and i made the tastiest oatmeal peanut butter chocolate cookies. literally divineeee • we got to help decorate a float for the Show Low 4th of July parade, and then today we were able to be apart of it!!! • both of our friends on date (Brigitte and Elias) will not be getting baptized as planned. Brigitte has some things to work through, and Elias told us on Sunday he doesn't feel ready yet, so we will keep working with them both. really sad when you want something for someone and you know it's the best decision they ...
