Week 36: Arizona: "oh look! it's the missionaries😄"
feliz lunes!!
this week was wonderful, and you all
probably think im lying or hiding something because i pretty much say
that every week, but i promise you i am not. the mission is just so
good. so good.
here are some things that happened:
*
we got a call from Anne on Tuesday. she was extremely distressed and
told us that she just wasn't ready to commit and couldn't keep meeting
with us. it was so sad because she literally loves reading the Book of
Mormon and has a testimony of temples and we wanted so badly to help her
to prepare to enter the temple to perform baptisms for her ancestors.
we will be reaching out in a few months, but it is just so annoying how
the adversary is working against us.
* we had
zone conference which was a spiritual feastttt as always. the theme was
developing Christ-centered relationships with our districts, companions,
friends, and ward members!
* we had exchanges
on Tuesday so i spent the day with sis harward! we biked around for a
while and street contacted hispanic workers. none of them live in our
area but we were at least able to help them get english class info from
the missionaries in their area!
* funny moment:
we were trying to make contact with a former in our area book. we
knocked a couple of times and there was no answer. all of a sudden hna
horton exclaims "oh look its the missionaries!!!" im like uh what we are
missionaries what do you mean ? well i turn around and the larkspur
elders are pedaling along on their bikes trying to make contact with the
same family as us. we had accidentally left our area haha whoopsie
daisy it was just so random we were all laughing about it
*
i finished my book of mormon study on the character of Christ! this has
been my favorite study of the book of mormon yet. I JUST LOVE THE BOOK
OF MORMON YALL. as i have started from the beginning this week, i have
noticed now more than ever how close of a relationship we mortals can
have with deity! Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ can literally guide us
through in every aspect of our lives if we choose to let God prevail.
*
we were at a member lesson and the little boy who said the closing
prayer prayed that he would one day know how to make lava :)
*
hna horton and i finished listening to saints 1! if you haven't read
saints 1 yet 10/10 recommend it strengthened my testimony of jospeh
smith and the restoration so much!
* Lorenza,
Sara, Ruben, Edgar, & Luis came to the fiesta de la hispanidad on
saturday which was a partyyy i hadn't eaten tamales in sooo long it was
divine.
* BRISA CAME TO CHURCH AND BROUGHT HER SISTER!! they both loved it <3
*
our stake is starting some new self reliance classes and last night
there was a kick off devotional. they announced it during church and
brisa heard and was super interested and asked if she could go and we
were like uhhh yesss of course!!! so she came and brought her HUSBAND
and they are super excited to take the personal finance course together
yay!! and Lorenza went to the meeting too and is now friends with Brisa
<3 it is so fun to see people you teach get together and become
friends ahhh so tender.
alrighty. let's talk some more about the book of mormon.
it's true.
IT'S
TRUE FRIENDS. IT'S TRUE. and i want to make that absolutely clear. it is
true. it is true. is true. it is the most precious book on the face of
the earth. it is the book that can bring us closer to God than any other
book. when we put real effort into immersing ourselves in the book of
mormon, we gain a deeper appreciation and love for Jesus Christ and His
atoning sacrifice, we begin to remember who we really are and who God
really is, we are taught the purpose of this life and how covenants and
ordinances are essential for exaltation, the list goes on and on and
on.
friends, my fear is that we don't love the book of mormon
enough and that we aren't intentional enough in immersing ourselves in
it. and that really scares me. i can promise you that the very moment
that you decide to make daily immersion in the book of mormon a priority
in your life you will feel of God's infinite love for you as His child.
as you are diligent in studying daily you will receive greater
direction and clarity to know what you should be doing in your life, you
will come to know your Savior Jesus Christ in a very personal way, and
you will be happier.
to my dear friends who
aren't members of the church and who haven't read/heard of the book of
mormon, i testify that it is the most correct book on the Earth. i
seriously wouldn't want to live a day without it. i would love to talk
more with you about it, read from it with you, and answer any questions
you might have.
nos vemos la proxima semana mis amores!!
hna zayas
