Week 4: Arizona: And thisss is why we have a truck

 Hi hi hi!!!


This week was SO AWESOME!! We arrived here at Lakeside Tuesday at around 4ish. It was about a 3 hour drive from Scottsdale and it was beautiful, so many mountains and cacti and red rocks. Lakeside is in the White Mountains so the elevation is super high. When we got to our apartment and opened up our shampoo bottles they exploded heheehe so cool. 

Some highlights:

• Our friends Raymando and Rayondo want to get baptized!! They still have to work through some things but the desire is there and they are praying for a date!!
• We went out to have Sushi with the Paces. Literally the best sushi I've had in my life.
• It SNOWED on Wednesday. Yes, you read that right. I am in Arizona and it SNOWED. And it was like REAL snow. I kind of flipped out, it was my first time seeing snow in years. It is a lot colder than I remembered haha
• Hermana Sleight and I cover two wards so we got to do 5 hours of church yesterday 😊 it was so spiritually filling though I loved it
• We haven't gotten stuck in a ditch yet 😆 we have had a few close calls, but Betsy (our truck) has really risen to the occasion (hence this week's subject line haha)

I love that I get an hour each day to study the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. President Smith gave all the new missionaries a new copy and told us to read it while searching for the Doctrine of Christ. I've been doing this for a week and I love it. Literally the answer to any question we have can be found in the Doctrine of Christ: "How can I move forward knowing God is with me?" having faith. "How can I overcome my weaknesses?" repentence and the Atonement of Christ. "How can I make better choices?" live worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost, etc etc etc.
I love how pure and simple and perfect the Doctrine of Christ is, I feel so blessed to be able to share it with others 😊

Week 7: Arizona: Where did Susie's Head Go?!

  Qué tal?! This was a miracle week!!!!! As I mentioned last week, we have been struggling to find people to teach. On Saturday we got a text from one of our bishops that basically said that a man named Jeff had texted him because he has been thinking about joining the church for a while and he loves watching General Conference and he basically wants to get baptized...ISNT THAT AMAZING?!?! So Hna Sleight and I called him up and he was super excited and was like "Let's plan a time to get together tomorrow after sacrament meeting" and we were like YESSSSS. We met him yesterday and he is the absolute sweetest he is so eager to learn more and fits right in to the ward. Like literally we are having our first lesson with him tomorrow at a member's house. He has so much member support which is honestly so awesome. That was definitely the highlight of our week. Week 4: Mexico City/Arizona: Goodbye Mexico CCM ;(

  Hi there!! I am in Arizona!!! Ahhhhh today was a long day. I had to be at my bus ready to leave the MTC at 1:30am, so Hermana Gomez and I decided we just wouldn't sleep and instead did some cramping packing and had a nutella with toast party.  Saying goodbye to my district was hard, we all became such great friends, but saying goodbye to Hermana Gomez was so sad I was actually devastated. She is going to do amazing things in Mérida. Once I got to the Mexico City airport I realized there were a bunch of other missionaries too, yay!! One of the hermanas had a ukelele, so while we were waiting by the gate she started playing hymns while me and another hermana sang along. So there we were, 3 hermanas singing super loud, its 4 in the morning and everyone is half asleep... It was actually so fun even though people were given us weird looks ahaha.
