Week 10: Arizona: when the temperature is higher than the odometer :)

 Qué tal mis amigos?!


This week was wonderful! Here are the highlights:

• On Saturday we had a mission wide conference, so we drove down to the Valley for the day!! Elder Neil L Anderson came to speak to us!! It was so amazing to have a prophet of God among us, such a special experience.
• I got my tiwi card and am now the driver 😜 (see our mom and teen driver photo below heheheh) sooo I had my first experience driving a truck up the mountain so fun!!
• We got our hair cut by a member who also did Madonna's hair on her Vogue tour...crazy, I know.
• We finished our goal to text every single former in our area book (about 200ish) and we got some responses and scheduled some lessons for this week YAY! Next step: call every single one that didn't respond :)
• Jeff made us tamales!!!!!! 🤩🤩
• We had a lot of lessons with people we usually don't have lessons with/usually fall through so that was a true miracle
• So Hna Sleight & I were both assigned to speak Spanish, but we are currently serving in an English area and we have started teaching someone who only knows Spanish!! His name is Elias, he is so sweet and so humble. We are so excited to keep teaching him and to practice our lessons in Spanish!!
• Hna Sleight & I made flan for the first time! It wasn't terrible but we are going to try it again this week 

I am just so grateful to be a missionary, I love being able to testify of Christ every single day. I have literally never been happier. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I love Him, I want to be like Him. I am grateful for my shortcomings and imperfections because they give me opportunities to turn to Him and grow closer to Him.

At our mission conference, Elder Anderson said "Every effort you make to get to know Christ will be eternally worth it." I invite all of you to do something this week to grow closer to Christ. You will not regret it I promise.

Week 7: Arizona: Where did Susie's Head Go?!

  Qué tal?! This was a miracle week!!!!! As I mentioned last week, we have been struggling to find people to teach. On Saturday we got a text from one of our bishops that basically said that a man named Jeff had texted him because he has been thinking about joining the church for a while and he loves watching General Conference and he basically wants to get baptized...ISNT THAT AMAZING?!?! So Hna Sleight and I called him up and he was super excited and was like "Let's plan a time to get together tomorrow after sacrament meeting" and we were like YESSSSS. We met him yesterday and he is the absolute sweetest he is so eager to learn more and fits right in to the ward. Like literally we are having our first lesson with him tomorrow at a member's house. He has so much member support which is honestly so awesome. That was definitely the highlight of our week. Week 4: Mexico City/Arizona: Goodbye Mexico CCM ;(

  Hi there!! I am in Arizona!!! Ahhhhh today was a long day. I had to be at my bus ready to leave the MTC at 1:30am, so Hermana Gomez and I decided we just wouldn't sleep and instead did some cramping packing and had a nutella with toast party.  Saying goodbye to my district was hard, we all became such great friends, but saying goodbye to Hermana Gomez was so sad I was actually devastated. She is going to do amazing things in Mérida. Once I got to the Mexico City airport I realized there were a bunch of other missionaries too, yay!! One of the hermanas had a ukelele, so while we were waiting by the gate she started playing hymns while me and another hermana sang along. So there we were, 3 hermanas singing super loud, its 4 in the morning and everyone is half asleep... It was actually so fun even though people were given us weird looks ahaha.
