Weeks 2 & 3: Mexico City: Pineapple in Tacos
Hola hola hola!!!
I arrived at the Mexico MTC last week on Tuesday, so today is my first Pday! When I got to Mexico I was like oh my heck wow this is getting real, I was trying my best to nottt look like a foreigner. Literally as soon as I got out of customs I had people yelling at me like "Señorita Taxi Taxi!!!!" I was like nooo I don't want a taxi please no. I looked for the people that were supposed to pick me up and... they were no where to be found. I was like oh no they forgot about me ;( so then I texted my district for help and they told the MTC president and apparently the people were waiting for me at the wrong terminal. I was super hungry though so while I waited I ate at a Starbucks in the airport. They eventually came though and I didn't get kidnapped yay!!
Anyways, I LOVE IT HERE IT IS MORE WONDERFUL THAN I COULD HAVE IMAGINED. I have the best district ever they are so cool. My two teachers, Hna Cornejo and Hna Veloz, are the absolute best. The food is really really good, a few days ago we had tamales for breakfast and for dinner we had tacos with pineapple IN the taco it was divine. My companion is Hna Gomez! I absolutely love her, she is an angel. We wake up at 5am and go to the gym to runnn I love her so much.
The first few days here were definitely a shock. 7/10 of my district do not know English (including my companion) so I have really learned a ton of Spanish. Here are some random phrases/words I've learned:
•Que chido!!
• Eso está padre!!
•aRaNdAnOs
We got to go to the Temple today!!! It was absolutely wonderful, I love the temple with my whole heart.
I love being a missionary, I get to testify about Christ every day!! He is making me a better person and a better missionary, I know this for a fact. I started out barely being able to share my testimony in Spanish to teaching 25 minutes lessons in spanish. Here's a scripture that has helped me:
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Ether 12:12
I know that through Christ our weaknesses can become our strengths. I know God is aware of you right this second and loves you infinitely, because YOU are one of His precious children.
I love all of you. Thank you for your support <3
Love,
Hermana Zayas
